Many foreign trade workers have experienced the amendment charge of house B/L. Amending bill will cost amendment charge which will make you very upset! Some time ago I have experienced a very annoying amendment of house B/L, and today I have found an article to teach you how to cleverly avoid the amendment charge of house B/L.

1.What's the amendment charge?
At present, many major shipping companies demand the disposable B/L information, and after confirmation, it cannot be amended anymore. But in practical process, the mistakes cannot be avoided, such as misspelled words, missing letters in a word, misused punctuation and so on which occurs the origin of amendment charge.

At present, the amendment charge varies from one shipping company to another, but usually, it needs charge to amend even a word (Chinese characters or English letters, including capital and small letters) or punctuation (including SBC case or DBC case, English punctuation mark or Chinese punctuation mark), the charge varies from rmb350-rmb500, and each amendment needs charge. But this is rule, no matter how is rational or not, we all need to observe.

Through the following two pictures, we can clearly know that the house B/L has something to do with shipping company B/L, that is the detailed information part. As mentioned before, B/L always permeates with a complete logistics process, but in the export processes, it must follow the MBL (Master Bill of Lading). Two bills should bring into correspondence strictly with each other in goods’ detailed information.

House B/L is used for shipper and consignee. MBL is used for port of loading brand and port of destination. In the house B/L, the goods' detailed information should be strictly correspondent with MBL. And in the MBL, the goods' detailed information should be strictly correspondent with house B/L.

How to use tips to avoid the spare amendment charge of house B/L?

Actually, if you amend the content outside the red box, it doesn't need the amendment charge. But it should be based on which the house B/L hasn't completed customs formality at port of loading. If the house B/L has done the relevant customs formality at port of destination, any content in the amendment refers to amendment charge and local fine. And the fine will vary from one port of destination to another, but never be low.

It will be a big problem if you cannot handle well the amendment charge, I hope all of you can make good use of the above knowledge to avoid falling into a trap.
